Fall and Shades of Green

I was shopping in Anthropology past weekend and the moment I came across this green sweater tunic, I knew it would be a great addition to my fall wardrobe.  As it starts getting chillier outside I’m naturally drawn to earthy tones. Fall is one of my favorite seasons because of its beauty and magnificent colors. This year’s Pantone rundown included classic olive green, greenish sage, as well as golden beige shades. This look combines these beautiful fall shades.  I’m pairing green sweater tunic with sage skinny jeans, oversized trench, Loffler Randall rider satchel, wooden tones bib necklace, and my favorite Burberry flats. I can’t wait to wear more fall colors 🙂

Weekend fringe

So the fringe…. It’s been everywhere and on everyone this season – from tops and jackets to purses and shoes. Can’t say I’m a huge fan of the trend but when I saw this skirt, I decided to give it a try. After all, I always advocate experimenting with outfits so I figured “why not?”

Now, most of the looks involving fringe end up in a hippie hobo territory. And that’s one style I do not do. Instead, I’ve decided to sway it in the opposite direction by adding a rocker vibe to it, which is a lot closer to my heart.

So what do you think – should the fringe be allowed in my wardrobe or should it die a slow painful death? 🙂

Monochromatic with the Twist

I love combining monochromatic pieces with pops of color. I think it’s a simple, clean approach to putting an outfit together. Today’s outfit consists of a grey top, cropped pants, grey suede pumps offset by powder blue bag and a neon yellow cropped jacket. It’s neutral but striking.

Blue and Orange

What you wear to the office has to be dress code appropriate but no one said it should be boring. As much as I love simplicity, mixing in bright color elements is an easy way to make the outfit pop. This time my new orange necklace by PAOLA FRANI set the tone for this look. What can be happier than bright orange statement piece?  Offset by blue jacket, blue skinny ankle pants, and burned orange Calvin Klein Tote this necklace is an attention getter.

A little bit of pink, a little bit of fur…

Well, this turned out unexpectedly Parisian…  But regardless of the elaborate location choices, the look is quite simple. I, however, received a bunch of compliments on this outfit despite it’s simplicity. The secret recipe is always the same – bright colors and texture! What turns heads in this case is the brightness of the fuchsia skirt and the faux leather/fur texture of the vest. Everything else in the outfit just supports the “key players”.

One tip to remember:  not everything in your wardrobe needs to be unique, expensive or of outstanding quality. It only takes one or two “hero” pieces to pull the whole outfit together and make it look sophisticated. And that’s exactly how you achieve elegance!

White Vest Dress

I’m a true believer in investing in quality wardrobe staples. However, not all my favorite timeless pieces come from name brands. This white vest dress from H&M is a great example of versatile wear. It can be worn multiple ways: dressed up or down, as a dress or a vest.  White color makes it stand out and instantly dresses it up.  Here I paired it with black and gold accessories for a sharper contrast.  An outfit like this appropriate for the office and may be worn with a light jacket.  Or wear it just like this to grab a few drinks after work with you girlfriends or a Mr. Right.  Combinations are truly endless…

Rustic Glam

I love mixing colors,  styles and trends – no surprise to those that know me. Same goes for matching or, rather, not matching an outfit to a background. Elena and I are always on the lookout for new cool locations for our photo shoots. So when we discovered this rusted warehouse wall, I immediately thought how cool it would be to “pair” it with a more glamorous, elegant outfit.

Long grey flowy skirt and gold accessories certainly add the “glam” element to the look. And green faux leather cut-out top serves as an edgier link to the rustic environment.

Leather Dress or Hippie Me

Do you have these days when you wake up feeling like you want a change? The easiest solution for that is wearing an unexpected outfit, something that’s nothing like your everyday style. It always works for me. I wear a suit one day and ribbed jeans and leather jacket the next. My last few looks on the blog have been very classic, elegant, and simple. Today’s outfit, on the other hand, is more relaxed and laid-back.  I paired a brown cargo pocket  mini shift dress, with a teal shirt, brown chain suede bag, and beige leather hand-made boots I got in Rome. Dangly bronze earrings and the bracelet  make the look appear casual and has hippie vibe to it-it’s different and that’s what I was going for.

Summer With A Layer Of Fall

The summer is almost over and my mind has completely switched into a fall mode. I love everything about fall – the colors, the freshness of the air with a slight chill, layered outfits, the boots… (can’t wait!!!)  But the weather, luckily for most,  isn’t agreeing with my mind set yet. We’ve been getting quite a heat streak lately so I am forced to remain in  my summer clothes. But I decided to raise it up a notch on the complexity scale and added a trench coat – a sleeveless one for now.

Enjoy the warm weather and I’ll be patiently waiting for my scarves and boots to make it down from the top shelf of the closet…

Casual mustard with some mint

This is probably one of the most casual looks I’ve posted so far, but don’t judge it too quickly. The color combination is something I’ve been meaning to play with for a while. A mustard color top combined with rich brown leather brings in just a touch of fall to the outfit while crisp mint adds summer freshness. All in all, it’s a great transitional palette if you are not quite  ready for the change of the season.

Enjoy the rest of your summer while it lasts!
