DVF Scarf and DVF Clutch

Diane von Furstenberg is a fashion legend and is very well known for her iconic wrap dresses.  Her clothing line, the DVF, is not limited to just dresses. As Diane herself says “the DVF woman is the woman that I wanted to become when I was young, the woman that I became, and the woman that I no longer am but still am a little bit.”  She created her clothing and accessories line for women who can do it all: women who smile and laugh, have careers, have boyfriends, lovers, and husbands, have kids, who drive cars, go out and enjoy life to its fullest (by Harpers Bazaar.)

I was lucky to find these DVF pieces on sale and it’s what I call a timeless classic. I hope you like the combination of blue in the  scarf and petal pink.

Not Another Black Jacket

Every woman has a classic black jacket in her wardrobe. It’s as versatile of a piece as it gets and can definitely be part of any capsule wardrobe. The idea of a mini “capsule” wardrobe is very dear to me. It’s a wardrobe made up of adaptable garments that you love and that make you look put-together when mixed and matched. It’s really applicable to any style, yet the result is always great . You typically need to update your capsule every season but the core pieces always work and save you time getting dressed. Black jacket is one of those all-season core pieces.

What I adore about the BCBGMAXAZRIA classic jacket I’m wearing here is the split sleeves option with zip closure.  Not only this jacket is versatile but it can really smarten any outfit.

Mustard and Burgundy: Basic Layers

I’m wearing a very comfortable layered mustard and burgundy outfit today. Layering is really the best option for a colder season; even simple pieces will look interesting and put-together with proper layers. Many women stay away from layering due to common misconception that it makes them look bulkier. In reality well-layered pieces create an illusion of a more proportional silhouette. My personal layering tip would be to start with s lightweight base layer, top or blouse. Next add cardigan or a sweater; depending on your body type you can select either a longer piece or shorter boxier version. That second layer is a great opportunity to mix in bolder, brighter color and give your outfit more depth. Next, you can add an accessory-a necklace or a scarf, whatever sets the right mood. Lastly, grab your favorite bag and out you go! Don’t be afraid of playing with textures, mixing materials, and combine colors. Just have fun with it!

Fall and Shades of Green

I was shopping in Anthropology past weekend and the moment I came across this green sweater tunic, I knew it would be a great addition to my fall wardrobe.  As it starts getting chillier outside I’m naturally drawn to earthy tones. Fall is one of my favorite seasons because of its beauty and magnificent colors. This year’s Pantone rundown included classic olive green, greenish sage, as well as golden beige shades. This look combines these beautiful fall shades.  I’m pairing green sweater tunic with sage skinny jeans, oversized trench, Loffler Randall rider satchel, wooden tones bib necklace, and my favorite Burberry flats. I can’t wait to wear more fall colors 🙂

Monochromatic with the Twist

I love combining monochromatic pieces with pops of color. I think it’s a simple, clean approach to putting an outfit together. Today’s outfit consists of a grey top, cropped pants, grey suede pumps offset by powder blue bag and a neon yellow cropped jacket. It’s neutral but striking.

Blue and Orange

What you wear to the office has to be dress code appropriate but no one said it should be boring. As much as I love simplicity, mixing in bright color elements is an easy way to make the outfit pop. This time my new orange necklace by PAOLA FRANI set the tone for this look. What can be happier than bright orange statement piece?  Offset by blue jacket, blue skinny ankle pants, and burned orange Calvin Klein Tote this necklace is an attention getter.

White Vest Dress

I’m a true believer in investing in quality wardrobe staples. However, not all my favorite timeless pieces come from name brands. This white vest dress from H&M is a great example of versatile wear. It can be worn multiple ways: dressed up or down, as a dress or a vest.  White color makes it stand out and instantly dresses it up.  Here I paired it with black and gold accessories for a sharper contrast.  An outfit like this appropriate for the office and may be worn with a light jacket.  Or wear it just like this to grab a few drinks after work with you girlfriends or a Mr. Right.  Combinations are truly endless…

Leather Dress or Hippie Me

Do you have these days when you wake up feeling like you want a change? The easiest solution for that is wearing an unexpected outfit, something that’s nothing like your everyday style. It always works for me. I wear a suit one day and ribbed jeans and leather jacket the next. My last few looks on the blog have been very classic, elegant, and simple. Today’s outfit, on the other hand, is more relaxed and laid-back.  I paired a brown cargo pocket  mini shift dress, with a teal shirt, brown chain suede bag, and beige leather hand-made boots I got in Rome. Dangly bronze earrings and the bracelet  make the look appear casual and has hippie vibe to it-it’s different and that’s what I was going for.

Linen Midi Dress

Today’s look is as simple as it gets: linen midi dress in cream and chambray stripes, white blazer, and flats. Summary linen cotton is so summary and breathable, I’m having hard time not wearing this dress all the time.

Red Blouse

As you might have noticed I like minimalism in my clothes with occasional pops of color. In todays look I combined black & white striped sarong skirt, black pumps, and bright red halter neck pleated top. My accessories are very subtle and neutral, I’m letting the blouse get all the attention. I like how red brought life to this look and made it day to night wear. Wear it with natural makeup for a day, darker vampy color lipstick for a night,  hair in the top knot for a bit of Parisian chic. Options are really unlimited.  What I’m trying to say you girls need a red top in your wardrobe!
