Afternoon Stroll

Afternoon stroll through a very pretty and chic neighborhood is one of my favorite things to do in the spring.  I’ll try my best to venture into brighter shades as it gets closer to summer but for now I’m sticking to my favorite, office friendly neutrals.

Snake print is one of those universally flattering and easy to pull of prints that transition well into the seasons.  It offers the perfect dose of texture for any outfit. It’s such an easy way to give your look a sophisticated, European appeal.  You can mix it with any colors but keep the simplicity in the rest of the look to make this fun print stand out more.

Blues and Purples

With the spring making a rather shy entrance this year, I’ve taken it upon myself to brighten things up. And if you think my color mixing is crazy, look at hydrangeas I so conveniently found on the street, they look perfectly balanced and well-coordinated. So why not take an inspiration from the nature? 😉

And please pardon the crazy hair – I was fighting a losing battle with Chicago wind again.

A Date With Anthropologie

You’ve probably seen both, Elena and I, wear a lot of clothes and accessories from Anthropologie. If you have, you wouldn’t be surprised to learn that we love the store! And while the website is nice enough, going to an actual store is an experience in itself! It’s like walking into a eclectic lounge and a chic boutique at the same time. The effort they put into decorating the space is phenomenal (make sure to scroll to the pictures)! And, believe it or not, all stores are different and unique in their own way, so try to visit as many as you can.

Hot Pink and Sneakers

A sunny spring day and a bright pink blazer that makes you stand out from the crowd – what can be better? Well, my new Vince sneakers are amazingly comfortable and adorable. I can’t stop wearing them since I got them  :). Definitely a must have this season!

The easiest way to transition your fall/winter pieces into spring and summer is by adding bright colors. My pink jacket is that exact element. However, you can use an interesting scarf, a fun necklace, bright shoes or a purse to create  interesting spring looks without an extra investment in your wardrobe.

Have fun with it and shop my look below 🙂

Edgy Mint

Our spring has been a bit of a rollercoaster so far – snow one week, 75F degrees the next. Despite an occasional heat streak, an average day remains chilly, though. And even when the sun is out and you are lucky enough to catch some of its warmth, the air still carries the crispiness of an early morning, burning your air passages with coldness when you breath too much of it in.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I would say it again – layering is key! A vest is an all-time favorite go-to outer layer of mine when it comes to a warmer but not quite warm weather. This particular vest grabbed my attention the moment I saw it online. I like how the traditional edginess of a leather moto jacket is offset by a femininity of an almost pastel color.  And the quality of real leather is superb! Now, I can see a lot of you starting to imagine a crazy price tag, which an original $295 would certainly qualify for. But I am a bargain shopper after all… So check out the link below for a REALLY nice surprise, but be aware that size selection is already limited.

Happy spring shopping! 😉

Blushing Grey

Today’s look is inspired by pantone color of the year, Rose Quartz, and one of my favorite bloggers Galant Girl.  I was very excited to find this new dress because of its color and versatility. It looks great when worn loose but I decided to add a bit more shape to it and added a belt. The dress works for winter, spring, fall, or even a cooler summer day. And it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t incorporate something grey in my outfit.

I love the blush pink color! It works great with any complexion and especially striking in combination with taupe grey and rose gold accessories.  This color is very popular this spring and it’s easy to see why. It’s that blushing, flowery shade that immediately lifts your mood.  The dress is extremely soft and comfortable, and I can’t wait to wear it again.

Happy spring day!

Layering and Shades of Green

Today’s look doesn’t resemble my usual style much. However, I really liked how shades of green and burgundy worked together. The whole look turned out a little boho chic and a bit eclectic gypsy. Flowy fabrics, natural earthy shades, and longer layers. ..

I think it’s really fun to try to step out of your comfort zone and experiment with different styles.  You might feel very comfortable as a new you or not but that’s the fun of experimenting. You might learn something about yourself and of course, it’s never boring.

Don’t be afraid to be a different you!

Self-Reflection

On one’s birthday it is only customary to look at the past years and analyze yourself: explore your accomplishments, study possible mistakes and achievements; and put together a wish list of  to-do’s for the near future… I am not going to do that. Not that I don’t do any of these things, but because I don’t think Monday morning is the right time for my “wisdom” and deep philosophical thoughts. Let’s save it for Friday or Saturday night with a few glasses of wine 😉

What I will say is this… I realize more and more that I am still getting to know myself as my likes and dislikes change over the years (…sometimes it’s hard to keep up!) I like knowing my comfort zone but appreciate when someone pushes me outside of it and encourages me to explore new opportunities. It’s important to stay true to your style but continue to explore new trends and play with variety. One of my worst fears is becoming boring and predictable. So I can only hope that no matter how many years pass, I will still be chasing my ever-changing self while remaining true to my values.

Happy Monday everyone!

Gray in Spring

Spring is in the air…love is in the air – something like that…  With the weather getting nicer, we are trying to spend more time outside enjoying fresh air and the sun. But despite the bright spring trends, I’m not giving up on my grays! Another gray outfit here – gray top and, of course, a new gray men’s style blazer. Ladies, you really need to invest into men’s style blazer this season! Just like boyfriend’s jeans, this has an understated and chic vibe to it while remaining casually trendy.

Black pants, black shoes and mostly black accessories complete this look. However, I don’t feel like it’s a boring one at all! This outfit feels sharp due to its clean lines and a daring style.  Sometimes all a girl needs is a blue sky, fresh air, and a perfect gray outfit 🙂

Don’t feel gray today but don’t be afraid of wearing it!

Oldie But Goodie And Perfect For Spring

I’ve got to say that I didn’t realize how difficult it would be to link to the items in this outfit until I started writing the post. The explanation is simple – all of these pieces are the trusted favorites that have been in my wardrobe for a season or two.  None of it is designer wear, and most items have been purchased either on sale or at a low price to begin with. But I’m a stronger believer that it’s not the price tag that makes the outfit. Sometimes it’s a combination of unexpected or, simply, interesting pieces that create a cool style. Just remember to go for something that can “elevate” the look rather than match the rest of your clothes and it will pay you back over many seasons of use.
