Timeless Dress

Diane von Furstenberg has been an iconic face in fashion for a few decades. She has a phenomenal story and I really enjoyed reading her book “The Woman I Wanted to Be”. Her story is very inspiring while warm and honest at the same time. One of her famous quotes is sure my favorite “The most important relationship in your life is the relationship you have with yourself. Because no matter what happens, you will always be with yourself.” Isn’t it true?

DVF may be famous for her wrap dresses, but her silk shirt dresses are the most versatile and effortless wardrobe pieces. It’s stylish in its simplicity and gives lots of options for accessorizing. As soon as I tried this dress on, I fell in love! I already wore it on few occasions combining it with a variety of shoes and jackets.

My look below is more casual and works for every day. DVF silk shirtdress combined with red crossbody flap bag, neon coral peep toe pumps, and D&G aviator sunglasses.

Modern Style Icon: Olivia Palermo

One of my favorite modern actresses/models, Olivia Palermo, always looks amazing on and off the red carpet. Her style is fresh and effortless and never boring. What I find amazing about her daily looks is that all of them are adaptable to everyday life, can be easily recreated with both designer or mass market pieces, and always an inspiration.

Pink blazer and other obsessions

Have you ever been obsessed with an idea of something or a particular item that you are simply dying to have? You look for it everywhere you go, imagine yourself having it, asking people if they’ve seen it… Yeah, that was me with a pink blazer. But not just pink, hot fuchsia pink! I saw it once on a photo of a celebrity and immediately fell in love. To me, it was a perfect article of clothing that encompassed everything I like about a good wardrobe piece – it was bright and colorful, easy to be dressed up or down, could be worn with jeans or an evening skirt, perfect for layering… the list goes on. And let me tell you, when you really-really want something, you will eventually find it! So when I accidentally came across this Mural Blazer, I bought it without a second thought.

Red, Stripes, and a Bit of Blue

Today I wanted to wear an outfit that can be worn to work, to lunch or dinner with a friend, or just out and about. An outfit that is elegant but not boring.  I’m a big fan of classic look but it can easily start to look dull.  I wonder what would happen if I mix something red, a bit of stripes (or polka-dots) and may be something blue…….

My Spring Beauty Buys

I’m a sucker for all things beauty. I follow beauty blogs, watch makeup artists in action videos, I’m friends with Nordstrom’s, Macys’, and Neiman’s makeup counters sales people that call me immediately as the new seasonal collection makes it though the door. I never just buy a product, I look at hundreds of  swatches online, then test it myself, and only then, if I love it, I get the product. I’m not going to mention how many blushes, bronzers, highlighters, and lipsticks I have in my stash, but I love the variety and deciding which product to wear in the morning. And most of all I love how makeup makes me feel and look.  This spring there were quite a few products I loved and I’m happy to share these with you.

Guerlain is one of my favorite makeup brands. This spring they came out with a new product Meteorites Baby Glow. The product is the lightest, sheerest foundation you can only imagine. It’s your skin but better foundation that doesn’t crease, absolutely undetectable, makes you looks fresh, and plumps your skin. It has a very delicate violet fragrance, same one as Guerlain famous Meteorites products. I love wearing this product for a very natural look or over the weekend when I want to have that “I woke up like that” look.

Terracotta Joli Teint Powder Duo is another Guerlain product I added to my beauty stash this spring. It’s the lightest complexion enhancing bronzing powder that makes skin glow. It’s not orange or dark at all. The consistency is very satiny and finish is just seamless. I have 02 – Natural Blondes shade. Guerlain always has both blondes and brunettes powder bronzers and the difference is undertone. Blonde ones have pinkish base and brunettes peachy base.

Another product worth mentioning is Shiseido Maquillage Dramatic Mood Veil.  It’s blush/highlighter duo in pink and peach shades. It’s very pretty and sheer and looks amazing over a bronzer on the apples of the cheeks. This product was mentioned in one of the latest Lisa Eldridge videos (huge fan of hers by the way) and I really trust her product reviews. It’s not available in US, I believe this product was only released for Asia, but I was able to buy it online. It also comes with the great quality duel end brush and sponge, perfect for blending the product for a natural finish. It’s really worth investing into as it gives immediate brightening effect and looks very youthful.

Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil is another great pick. If you had to buy one product for your eyebrows that would be it. It’s angled and combines pencil and wax together. It’s great for making eyebrows look more dense and modern.

Another makeup brand I love is Chanel. This spring they released a reformulated Rouge Coco formula and it’s just divine. It’s ultra hydrating and has good staying power. I got two shades, Mademoiselle #434 (English rose color), and Adrienne #402 (perfect nude color). I’m trying to talk myself out of getting more shades but these are just too good.  Chanel also released my favorite mascara Le Volume de Chanel in waterproof formula and I couldn’t be happier.

These are my spring makeup picks. I have a feeling that I forgot something so quite possible I’ll be writing another post quite soon with more of my favorites. Happy shopping!

May and a Bit of Yellow….

A friend of mine gave me a great yellow sweater with a bit of bohemian vibe as a gift. The color is vibrant and a great complexion booster. The sweater is by VELVET by Graham & Spencer, contemporary design line with clothes that epitomize clean lines and understated luxury. Their pieces are made with finest materials and in US, LA specifically. I couldn’t be more in love with this piece which is a great transitional item from spring into summer. As it gets warmer I can see myself wearing my VELVET piece with white t-shirt and denim shorts or effortlessly off the shoulder with the maxi skirt. Today I paired it up with blue jeans, yellow top, grey pumps, and my ink color 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli satchel.

Sunny mood

We’ve had a horrible spring so far, as it’s often the case in Chicago, so rare sunny days are such a treat! I am a huge fan of bright colors year round! And a sunny day certainly calls for more brightness despite of how cold it still is. In the past, I found it somewhat challenging on occasion to incorporate really bright, summer colors into my cold weather outfits. I noticed that a heavier weave mini skirt with opaque tights (a must with any mini skirt, in my opinion!) adds enough “warmth” to the outfit. Pairing it with a cropped orange leather jacket elevates it to the right brightness level for me. And a yellow bag adds an additional dose of sunshine to the whole look.

So there – a bright spring look on a cold but sunny day! Who wouldn’t shed their winter blues looking at this?

Enjoy your spring!
